Notification List & Sales Policy
Below is how the notification list process works if you choose to purchase a KuneKune Pig from us.
1. Join the notification list
- Join our free, no obligation piglet notification list.
All pigs include:
- DNA testing (except barrows)
- USDA 840 ear tag
- Certified Vet Inspection (as required by state law)
- Vaccinated and dewormed
2. Piglets are born
- Litter notification is sent to AKKPS within a few days of the piglets being born.
- Piglets are evaluated, photos taken, and any medications or vaccinations are administered.
- People on the notification list are contacted via email.
3. Reserve your piglet or lamb
- Piglets can be reserved on a first response basis and $50 non-refundable deposit.
- Deposits can be made via PayPal, Venmo, check, or we can send an invoice that you can pay via credit card.
- Your piglet's DNA sample is sent to UC Davis for full registration (unless it's a barrow). The piglet will be ready for picker no sooner than 8 weeks old.
- If you need transportation or delivery, we can help arrange that. The cost for transportation is the buyer's responsibility. We do allow pickup at our homestead or local delivery up to 50 miles free of charge.
4. Pick up your piglet or lamb
- Piglets are weaned at eight weeks old.
- The rest of the cost of your piglet is due on pick-up or delivery day.
- Bring a medium to large dog kennel to transport your piglet home. We recommend lining it with straw or a blanket. This is for the safety of your animal. Some pigs get car sick and can throw up and all pigs will use the bathroom during the trip. Bring a small water bowl and a gallon jug of water.
- If you pick up your pig or lamb at our homestead, you will get to meet their parents, see our setup, and go over our care routine. We can also spend time answering any questions.
Please Note: If you cannot pick up your piglet within one week of weaning, a boarding cost of $5 a day will be required unless agreed upon in advance.
Additional information:
Discounts are available if purchasing multiples pigs.
All animals sold come with unlimited email/texting, mentorship, and they will always be welcomed back to our home if for whatever reason you are no longer able to take care of them.
IMPORTANT: Our pigs come with a fertility guarantee. We stand behind our livestock genetics 100%. As long as good care and good faith attempts have been made at breeding, if they do not produce offspring, we will work with you on replacing or refunding your purchase. This includes gilts that are at least 18 months old and boars at least 12 months old.
Prompt pickup or transport of reserved livestock is compulsory.
Some boy pigs sold as pets or companion animals may be neutered before pickup at no charge to the buyer.
Piglets do not get weened until 8 weeks old. No exceptions.
Pigs require companions and do not thrive on their own. If you are only buying a single pig, you may be asked to provide evidence that you have companions waiting for them when they arrive at your home. We will also work with you on setting up a discount or packaged deal to include a companion.
Any costs for moving sheep out of state, including Certified Vet Inspection (CVI), shall be paid by the buyer unless otherwise agreed upon.
